Hanahan

A bedroom community with affordable homes, great schools, recreation programs and more.

Incorporated in 1973 Hanahan takes it name from Ross Hanahan, the 1903 Chairman with the Commissioners of Public Works in the City of Charleston. Two of their three schools, (Hanahan Elementary and Hanahan Middle), were both awarded National Blue Ribbon Award status by the U.S. Department of Education in 2014. The tight-knit community works together to manage the city, celebrate events and watch out for their neighbors. In 2016 Hanahan was named the safest city in the state and consistently ranks in the top 10.
